The former Governor of Anambra State and Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, has rallied residents of Osun state to vote for Rt Hon. Lasun Yussuff as Governor in the forthcoming election on Saturday.

Obi gave the direction, on Wednesday, at Labour Party’s campaign rally organised to drum support for Lasun Yussuff in the upcoming governorship election.

The Presidential candidate, who stormed Osogbo in the company of LP’s National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, said Yussuff was the alternative needed to right the wrongs of the wasted years of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Obi described Yussuff as a brilliant man with the right ideas, who would unearth the hidden treasures of Osun state for the world to see.

He said the struggle to wrest Nigeria from the claws of the ruling APC must start from Osun state, where the people needed to vote Lasun Yussuff into power for a better deal.

Obi said: “Vote for LP so that your children can have jobs; vote for people who will work for you and treat you as humans.

“We want to change Nigeria and the only way we can change Nigeria is to remove all these people who have put Nigeria to where it is for the past 23 years. It is time for them to go,” he added.

In his remarks, Yussuff said he presented himself to serve the people out of conviction and to let loafers know that governance was all about vision and the ability to bring the vision to reality.

He said: “Politics is about your capacity to articulate your position and your intention to serve the people.

Sound education and good healthcare will be possible when I become governor.

“Citizens will have at least one clinic that is accessible within the radius of 1km–that was the position of Olukoye Ransome-Kuti when he was alive–I will do it here in Osun. We will also prioritize agriculture and manufacturing.”

The LP candidate urged Osun residents to shun politicians who do not believe in labour but would rather buy votes to satisfy their selfish interests.

He said such politicians were enemies of Nigeria, who refused to believe that the country could develop through labour and productivity.

His words: “As if that is not enough, yesterday they said we can go and labour and die. Does a virtuous Yoruba person say such? I describe them as people of anonymous backgrounds. We don’t know them.

“How will you tell us to go, labour and die. They are only telling our parents that they have laboured in vain.

“My father was a carpenter and my mother a kola nut trader and they trained me in school with their labour.

Yussuff said the sweat of every Nigerian man and woman who laboured in dignity should water the seeds of success and yield fruits of prosperity for them.

He also enjoined Osun people to get their PVCs ready to be able to participate in the election on Saturday.
