Osun Health Commissioner Commends NGO for donating laboratory equipment

Health Commissioner in Osun State, Southwest Nigeria has commended an NGO, Excellence Community Education Welfare Scheme (ECEWS) for its outstanding partnership with the Ministry of Health by donating centrifuges to eight laboratory facilities in the state.

The Commissioner, Mr Jola Akintola gave the commendation, during the presentation of the equipment by the State Program Manager of the organisation, Dr. Oluwaseunfunmi Adefiranye, in Osogbo, the state capital.

Akintola noted that the donation would go a long way to alleviate the workload of scientists, particularly in managing HIV and AIDS.

“Your partnership with us will propel Osun State forward in the health sector. We assure you that we will make effective and responsible use of these donated items”, he said.

Recognising the gesture in addressing the health sector challenges, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health, Dr Akindele Adekunle pledged that the scientists would uphold the quality of results from the use of the facilities.

Responding, the Program Manager of the Excellence Community Education Welfare Scheme, Dr. Adefiranye explained that the equipment was also to support the HIV/AIDS project in the State.

He said the eight health facilities that benefitted from the donation include: State Specialists Hospital Asubiaro, ila- Oragun State Hospital, State Hospital Ilesa, General Hospital ijebu-jesa, General Hospital OKe-Ogbo and Primary Health Care Center Olode, Wesley Guild OAU Teaching Hospital College, OKe Ola Catholic Hospital and Maternity.
