Osun LG Polls: Governor Adeleke Lauds President Tinubu, Commends Process

The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting the rule of law which enabled the local government elections to hold across the state without hindrance.

Adeleke made the comment after casting his vote at Ede, his country home.

He stated that President Tinubu is a true democrat with huge democratic credentials.

The Governor noted that his administration has always been supportive of the federal government. He denied fake reports about him uttering negative remarks about the President.

He also described such reports as fake news and advised the public to disregard them.

He said: “In my first state broadcast on this crisis, I said this about the President: ‘Let me affirm that I know Mr. President to be a true democrat, a lover of Rule of Law, and a believer in the sanctity of the judicial process.

I know, as a matter of fact, that Mr. President will never authorise a dictatorial violation of the constitution irrespective of who is involved. It is crucial to add that Mr. President will never support any action that is capable of generating bloodbath and bloodshed.

“In my second broadcast, I also said this about Mr President: ‘We have confidence in the democratic credentials of President Tinubu, who we know will always insist on the Rule of Law.’”

The Governor, while urging the electorate to perform their civic duty, emphasized the importance of grassroots democracy in the development of the state.

He described the election process as seamless and commended the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) for a job well done, affirming that local government election is a crucial step in strengthening the nation’s democracy at the local level.

 

‘Peaceful election’

Meanwhile, the Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun who got accredited and cast his vote at about 8:20a.m at unit 5 ward 9, Asi, Odo-Otin Local Government Area of the state, urged residents to vote for their preferred candidates.

He commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise in the town and admonished the people to always stand for democracy.

He expressed optimism that the result of the election will reflect the will of the voters.
