Tijani said the initiative was put together in the name of the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, adding that arrangement has been concluded to move the health initiative across the six geopolitical zones in the country.

During the outreach, held at Ileri Oluwa House in Osogbo, Osun State, the beneficiaries underwent various medical checks such as free eye screening, free reading glasses distribution and free drugs.

He stated, “Basically, this is just giving back to the local community in the name of the Senate President because we feel that it is important for Nigerians to look after their health.

“We are starting the new year by paying attention to our health. So, this is a one-day outreach. We have had free eye test, drug distribution and medical consultation of varied sort. Around 300 people have benefitted from this outreach. We wanted to be able to reach out to the most vulnerable in the society.

“We painstakingly selected those who we felt really needed the help. It is not particularly a party affair. We are doing this basically for the generality of Nigerians

“We expect to do this across the six geo political zones and it is going to be most likely once every month as we forge ahead.

“We are in Osun which is my home as the kick-off point. We will move to another geopolitical zone in February and hopefully, before the end of the year, we would be back here again,” Tijani said.
