Our Quality Education Agenda pro-less privileged – Azman University

Azman University, the first with a designed programme to award degrees in aviation studies in Nigeria has promised to make quality education its watchword with opportunities for the less privileged as preparations are on to commence full academic sessions.

The Founder and Pro-Chancellor of Azman University, Abdulmunaf Yunusa Sarina stated this during the inauguration of the university’s Board of Trustees, BoT, and Governing Council in Kano state northwestern Nigeria, stressing that the institution is part of his contribution to youth education in Nigeria, with much consideration for the less privileged.

 

He said the quality assurance strategies adopted by the university with approval from the Nigeria Universities Commission, NUC, will involve the academicians, non-academics and students.

 

“Quality is our watchword at Azman University. We will ensure that we have quality staff, academicians, and students. We have met all the conditions and requirements set by the NUC, and we are fully ready to kick off with global best practices.

 

“The journey to establish the university started five years ago when I decided to contribute my quota to education and the development of the youth seeking university education, by establishing a private varsity.

 

“The institution would offer free education to vulnerable youths who cannot afford university education but meet the necessary requirements,” he said.

 

According to him, the inaugurated, BoT and Governing Council would assist in the take-off of activities and the management of the academic institution.

The Chancellor of the University, Arthur Eze lauded the founder expressing his commitment to supporting the University and announced a N200 million naira donation to the institution.

 

“I’m ready to contribute to the success of the university. I will start with the donation of N200 million.

 

“You have spent much building industries including an airline for the rich. Now you have chosen to build this university to help the poor. I will support you,” he said.

The Chairman of the occasion and former Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Prof. Muhammad Yahuza Bello, described the inauguration of the board as a critical milestone in the university’s journey emphasising that the school is now ready to commence operations and strive for international recognition.

 

PIC Chairman of the University, Professor Kabir Dangogo said the university will be intensively involved in training and research in the sciences, medicals and humanities while exploring new areas.

 

“As such during our preparations and research, we discovered that there is no university in Nigeria offering a comprehensive degree in Aviation studies. Azman University will be the first to start such programme in the country, especially in the area of aviation security,” he said.

 

He said the Azman University is in contact with leading universities in Nigeria among which is the Afe Babalola University, and many more across Africa and the globe.

The Vice President of Azman University, Mustapha Abdulmunafi Yunusa, expressed the institution’s commitment to achieving and showcasing the power of diversity, learning, and growth with positive impacts on the environment and the world.

The inaugurated members of the Board of Trustees include Barr. Ado Mohammed Maaji as Chairman, Sarki Ibrahim Makama, Prof. Hafiz Abubakar, Prof. M.S. Haruna, Dr. Bashir Aliyu, Amb. Mannir Liman, Prof. Oguga Ikpeze, Zainab Abdulmunafi, and Mustapha A. Yunusa as Secretaries.

The members of the Governing Council include Dr. Abdulmunafi Yunusa as Chairman, Prof. Fatima Batul Mukhtar, Prof. Kabiru Isah Dandago, Prof. Aminu Kabir, a representative of the National Universities Commission, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata, a representative of Bayero University Kano, Haruna Aliyu Yar Gaya, and Mustapha Abdulmunafi Yunusa
