The outgoing Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi Esan, has tasked her successor, Mrs Didi Walson-Jack to ensure that the Nigerian Civil Service remains active and effective towards the fulfillment of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope promises for Nigerians.
Yemi Esan, stated this on Friday, after an introductory meeting between the incoming Head of Service and the President at the State House, Abuja.
She revealed that during the meeting, the President shared his vision for Nigeria, particularly for the country’s workforce, Yemi-Esan expressed optimism that this would further prepare her successor to begin work effectively on assumption of office
Reflecting on several weeks of working with the new Head of Service, Yemi Esan expressed her confidence that Mrs. Walson-Jack is undoubtedly capable of managing the service with exceptional professionalism and empathy.
“We had a good time with Mr President for this and also we had a good time chatting with Mr President sharing his vision for the country and especially for the civil service with the incoming Head of Service and that should prepare her and that should make her hit the ground running so that she can achieve all that Mr President has discussed with us.
“Mr President has made the handing over from one outgoing Head of Service to another very seamless and this is very well appreciated the incoming Head of Service has had some weeks with me learning the ropes and I am sure by now she is ready to go and we thank Mr President for this.
“The newly appointed Head of Service is capable she is very intelligent, she is hardworking and she is professional and she has a lot of empathy, I do not doubt in my mind that she will do the job very well.” She added.
Speaking on her appointment, the new Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Walson-Jack, said she had assured the President of not disappointing on the mandate.
Walson-Jack also promised to work cordially with the entire civil service to deliver on the renewed hope agenda.
“One thing I know for sure is that I am very grateful to Mr President for the confidence and trust he has repose me in appointing me as the Head of Service of the Federation, I see it as a divine assignment and I had the opportunity to assure Mr President that by the grace of God I will not disappoint him.
“Well, what I would say is that I come as a servant of all to work together not only with the permanent secretaries but also with the Directors and the entire civil service to enable us to deliver on the renewed hope agenda.” The Head of Service added.
After more than five years in office, Yemi-Esan will hand over to her successor, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, as she retires from the Federal Civil Service.
