Grace Network Evangelical Outreach has given more than 1,500 people free healthcare services as part of activities to celebrate Easter in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, southern Nigeria.

In a statement signed by the Special Duties Pastor of the outreach also known as Grace Consulate, Mr. Idem Ita indicated that the free medical services would last for three days.

According to Idem Ita, the church holds yearly events at Easter as part of its contribution to the development of the community, noting “it is a three day event with free medical care. We have offered free services such as malaria testing, distributed more than two thousand treated mosquito nets and where relevant provided free medicines to people.

“We also provided free blood sugar and blood pressure checks and ensure those discovered to have high levels receive free consultations and in few cases make referrals. The free health services include haircuts, nutritional advice, eye care as well as confidential HIV counselling and testing.

“So far, we have more than 1,500 people from the villages around us and even from other local government areas near Calabar South benefitting from this outreach,” he hinted.

Youth’s participation

The Special Duties Pastor further indicated that an evangelical music festival targeted at young people and the young-at-heart was another event lined up to celebrate Easter in Calabar.

Ita indicated that the musical event tagged ‘2022 Youth Swagger’ would feature Chidinma Ekile, GreatMan Takit, and Simeon Douglas amongst others.

He stated that the theme for the 2022 Youth Swagger, ‘That God May Be Glorified’ was prayerfully selected to impact the lives of many young and elderly.

“Recall that Youth Swagger was envisioned years back as an evangelical tool to win souls into the Kingdom of God through intense worship and praise, even much more by the various gospel lineups we gather each year.

“Interestingly, this year’s edition will feature Chidinma, GreatMan Takit, Simeon Douglas and a galaxy of many other stars. With the lineup of A-list artists, this year’s Youth Swagger promises to be an atmosphere set for God to be worshipped, exalted by us His Sons and Daughters so that he can move in the power of His might to save, heal and deliver through His Holy Spirit.

“It is expected that everyone in Calabar and beyond, who loves good music and needs Jesus too as Lord and Saviour would be part of the festival. It is open to everyone – young, mama, papa, grandpa, children, everyone and I mean everyone.

“This year’s theme: ‘That God May Be Glorified’, was inspired by the Holy Ghost that indeed our God may be glorified. “The implication is very simple, every detail you will experience in that venue when you come in is deliberately created for the Glory of our God. It is to showcase the splendor and beauty of God because he is the reason,” the statement read.

The venue for the gospel musical festival, the Cultural Complex main bowl was filled to capacity as thousand turned out to join in the all night praise and worship.
