The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs says over 250,000 Nigerian women have so far registered for its newly launched EmpowerHER Financial Literacy Programme, designed to strengthen Women’s financial, digital, and entrepreneurial capacity across the country.

The initiative, launched under the leadership of the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, represents a major step in the Nigerian Government’s commitment to advancing women’s economic empowerment and promoting inclusive national development.

Implemented in partnership with Kudimata Nigeria Ltd, a financial literacy and empowerment organisation, the programme provides the digital framework, technical content, and nationwide delivery structure to support its implementation.

Speaking at the launch in Abuja, Sulaiman-Ibrahim described the initiative as “a cornerstone of national transformation that places knowledge and financial capability at the centre of empowerment.”

With EmpowerHER, we are laying the foundation for a financially literate and economically empowered generation of Nigerian women — one that will strengthen families, communities, and our nation,” the Minister said.

She explained that the programme is designed to train and empower millions of Nigerian women through financial and digital literacy, as well as entrepreneurship development, creating a sustainable and inclusive foundation for women’s economic advancement nationwide.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim further noted that “financial and digital literacy would now form the first layer of every empowerment initiative under the Ministry to ensure sustainability, transparency, and measurable impact, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Social Impact Interventions 774.”

On her part, Kathleen Erhimu, Founder of Kudimata Nigeria Ltd, said; “EmpowerHER is more than a project but a national movement to ensure that every Nigerian woman, whether in an office, market, or farm — has the knowledge, access, and confidence to build wealth and shape her own destiny.”

The EmpowerHER Programme is accessible through the Happy Woman Platform, offering beneficiaries one of the most comprehensive empowerment frameworks in the country, including financial and digital literacy, entrepreneurship development, access to finance, mentorship, and linkages to opportunity networks.

Anchored on the Renewed Hope Agenda, the initiative targets 10 million Nigerian women by 2030 to become financially literate and economically empowered, reaching both digital and community-based participants across the nation.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim reaffirmed that from the classroom to the marketplace, and from the civil service to entrepreneurship, every Nigerian woman deserves to be equipped to move from survival to success, as the nation builds a generation of informed, empowered, and unstoppable women..
