No fewer than 32,000 members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA operating under the umbrella of Sustenance Of Faith In Governance ( SOFIG) have joined the All Progressives Congress, APC, donating a whopping N150Million to support its candidate.
The socio-political advocacy group while declaring to support Governorship Candidate of the party, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, pledged to mobilise more people to enable him to actualise his ambition.
The State Chairman of APC, Chief Basil Ejidike who received the SOFIG members at its 6th anniversary ceremony at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre Awka, appreciated SOFIG leadership and membership for singling.out the party to support.
Addressing the mammoth crowd, the National President of SOFIG, Dr. Kingsley Ezekwelu noted that the group resolved to support the APC governorship candidate for the November 8th, 2025 election, Prince Ukachukwu because he has demonstrated intelligence and capacity required of a detail-oriented leader .
Ezekwelu said SOFIG came into being as a result of sabotage that trailed the 2019 All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) senatorial bid of Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu by those who feared his victory would be a springboard to boost his 2021 gubernatorial ambition.
While recognising the great role the late wife of Ukachukwu played in the birth of SOFIG, he said the group was into sacrificial partnership with Ukachukwu to deepen democracy. .
According to the President, the event marks a milestone in the journey of the organisation as a platform to launch new initiatives aimed at deepening democratic values at all levels.
“Over the past six years, we have remained a formidable voice in promoting transparent governance and encouraging citizen participation in the democratic process.
“We have consistently engaged stakeholders across political, religious, and civil society spaces in our mission to restore faith in government institutions and elected representatives.”
Corroborating him, his twin, Kenneth Ezekwelu pointed out that SOFIG believes in the philosophy of sacrificial partnership and initiated donation spree that resulted in raising the sum of N150 million as support fund for Ukachukwu ‘s campaign.
Also speaking, the State Coordinator of SOFIG, Hon Mrs Ngozika Ossy- Agbata hinted that the period of 6 years of existence has afforded the group the opportunity to discover, identify and support Ukachukwu in the forthcoming election.
In her remarks, the Deputy Governorship candidate of APC, Senator Uche Ekwunife said SOFIG has done well so far, and pledged to support the group by entrenching it’s solid existence in the 109 wards in Anambra Central Senatorial District of the State.
Responding, Prince Ukachukwu appreciated SOFIG for tasking it’s members to donate voluntarily to his campaign cause, stressing that he would not forget a formidable partnership with the group.
Ukachukwu noted that this is his time to use leadership position to continue to touch lives, stressing that God who made David to defeat Goliath would prevail in his governorship bid.
He urged them to remain committed to their shared objective and work for the success of the party in their various localities.
The event which drew an array of dignitaries from across the nation, featured keynote speeches and cultural displays.
