The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday, commissioned the dualized Testing-Ground-Ilesa-Garage road in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

Makinde, while inaugurating the road said the project was a testament to Governor Adeleke’s capacity to deliver on his mandate.

He lauded the governor for completing the project started by the past administration of Rauf Aregbesola, noting that the state and its people would be the biggest beneficiaries.

The Oyo State Governor also harped on continuity in governance, emphasizing the need for governments in power to complete projects left uncompleted by their predecessors in office.

“This is just two years in office and we are already commissioning projects all over the place, so you actually don’t need eternity to be impactful. But this is an impactful tenure, I must say.

“I and my brother are one in ensuring that when you have public money that has been spent on a project, whether by a previous administration or one in power, the project must be completed so that the people can have value for the money spent.

“This road was started by Governor Aregbesola and the present Governor Ademola Adeleke has completed it.

“I am so happy to be here this afternoon to celebrate the good work that is going on in Osun State,” he said.

The host governor, Ademola Adeleke, in his remarks, said public funds are sacred and must be judiciously spent on projects that would bring further development to the state, arguing that development can only occur where there is a will to make it happen.

He reassured the people of Osun that his administration would not relent until the dilapidated infrastructure in the state was fixed and collective prosperity achieved.

“At the inception of our administration, I had promised my God and the people of Osun state that I would not abandon projects inherited from my predecessors.

“It is my considered view that public projects are public assets which must not be wasted on the altar of political vendetta. I followed my conviction by directing my team to compile a list of all abandoned projects and submit a plan of completion,” Adeleke said.

The Governor then urged residents of the state to maximize the opportunities enabled by the new road, noting that the dualized nature of the road was pragmatic in its conception.

He advised commercial and private drivers to prioritize safety and shun reckless driving on the road.
