Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde on Thursday inaugurated the Omololu Olunloyo Leisure Park, located on Airport Road, Alakia, Ibadan.

Represented by his deputy, Mr. Bayo Lawal, Makinde stated that the new tourism park would serve as a hub for preserving the state’s rich cultural heritage.

He highlighted that the park’s facilities and artefacts would offer residents and visitors insights into the unique traits and geopolitical zones of Oyo State.

The governor added that the leisure park, developed on a previously abandoned site, was established to honour and recognise Dr. Olunloyo for his contributions to the state and Nigeria. He described Olunloyo as a brilliant and remarkable personality.

“This park is unique in many respects. We have some cherished artefacts here that symbolise our culture and tradition in Oyo State from Ibarapa to Oke Ogun to Ogbomosho and Ibadan.

“All these will make us always put our culture into cognisance,” he said.

Makinde urged the prospective users of the relaxation park to ensure its maintenance and use it strictly for the purposes it is meant for.

The State Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Mojeed Mogbonjubola, described the park as a significant milestone in Gov. Makinde’s vision to transform Ibadan’s skyline and enhance the beauty of the rapidly growing city.

He noted that the project was conceived as a hub for leisure, history, and culture.

Mogbonjubola added that the park would elevate Ibadan’s aesthetics while highlighting the governor’s commitment to urban development.
