The Oyo State Government has
expressed appreciation to the Universal Basic Education Board (UBEC) for its continuous support and partnership with the state in strengthening basic education delivery.
The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB) boss gave the appreciation during the distribution of work equipment including motorcycles and other materials to enhance monitoring and evaluation of public basic schools across the state.
The distribution, carried out through the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board was held at the OYOSUBEB Headquarters, Agodi, Ibadan, where evaluation and monitoring officers received the motorcycles and other materials on behalf of their Local Government Universal Basic Education Authorities (LGUBEAs).
The initiative was aimed at improving mobility, timely school visits and efficient monitoring of teaching and learning activities, particularly in hard-to-reach communities.
At the event, the Executive Chairman of OYOSUBEB, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, said the gesture underscored the Board’s commitment to quality assurance and accountability in the basic education sector.
He noted that effective monitoring remained a critical pillar in achieving improved learning outcomes in Oyo State schools.
Dr Adeniran explained that the motorcycles would enable Monitoring and Evaluation Officers to carry out their duties with greater ease, reduce delays in school inspections and enhance data-driven decision-making.
He acknowledged UBEC‘s efforts at providing interventions that enhance supervision, and overall service delivery in basic schools, while charging the beneficiaries to use the motorcycles responsibly and strictly for official purposes.
Adeniran further reiterated the Board’s zero tolerance for negligence, stressing that officers must ensure regular school visits, accurate reporting and prompt feedback to relevant departments.
In his remarks, the Coordinator, Forum of Monitoring and Evaluation Officers, Mr Agbaje Adedeji, expressed appreciation to the Board for the support, describing the intervention as timely and impactful.
The officers pledged renewed dedication to duty and assured the management of improved performance.
