Oyo NSCDC marks 2021 International Day of Peace

The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Tuesday, marked the International Day of Peace in all the Local Government Areas in the state.

The event took place in schools and marketplaces to sensitise citizens on the importance of embracing peace, as well as tolerating one another in society, for sustainable development and to move the nation forward.

According to a statement signed by the CD PRO, CSC Oluwole Olusegun, the Oyo State Commandant of the NSCDC, Adaralewa Michael Akintayo, asserted that every little step that could be taken to remind people about the value and the benefits of peace is necessary, especially on such a day.

The Commandant stated this at the State Command Headquarters of the NSCDC, Agodi, Ibadan while addressing officers and men of the Corps who went on sensitisation to some schools and markets in Ibadan, the state capital.

He appreciated the leadership of the organisation that created and has sustained the Peace and Conflict Resolution Unit of the Corps, as 251 cases have been resolved in the year 2021 alone.

The Head of the Peace and Conflict Resolution Unit, DCC Olanitori Modupe, on her part, said she was very happy about the support and cooperation received from schools and markets where all the officers and men of the Corps went for the sensitisation.

The statement reveals that some of the places visited are: United Secondary School, Omi Adio; Nurudeen Group of Schools, Kishi; Our Lady of Apostles, Odo Ona; Olanipekun Memorial High School, Irepo; Itesiwaju High School, Alapafon; Badeku Community School, Inukan; Bolude Plank Market Ona Ara; Alafin High School, Oyo and ACOMORAN (Bicycle riders’ association).

Commandant Adaralewa encouraged all residents of Oyo State to embrace peace and help security agents in maintaining peace nationwide through the supply of timely and adequate information.
