The Oyo State Olubadan-in-Council says individuals aspiring for chieftaincy titles in Ibadanland, must pass integrity test and possess record of past contributions to the ancient metropolis before an appointment.
This was part of the decisions reached, on Monday, at the Olubadan-in-Council meeting held at the Alarere residence of the Olubadan-designate, Dr Lekan Balogun, who presided over the meeting.
The Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Tajudeen Ajibola, who briefed the media after the meeting, said the decision was in tandem with the policy of the new Olubadan that Ibadan chieftaincy titles would not be for sale during his reign.
He explained that to drive home the point, the expectant Baale, Mogaji or Jagun would be screened by the members of the Olubadan-in-Council before appointment.
Other issues addressed at the meeting, according to the Otun Balogun, were the coronation ceremony holding on March 11, 2022, and the ensuing promotion of the High Chiefs in the Olubadan line, occasioned by the elevation of the Otun Olubadan (Dr Lekan Balogun) to the Olubadan stool.
Ajibola disclosed that the meeting, at the instance of the new Olubadan, expanded the coronation committee with the nomination of High Chiefs Lateef Adebimpe (Osi Balogun), Olubunmi Isioye (Ekerin Balogun) Abiodun Kola-Daisi (Ekerin Olubadan) and Hamidu Ajibade (Ekarun Olubadan).
He noted that two Baales, Oniroko of Iroko, Ismaila Olasunkanmi Abioye and Baale Ajia Olorungbuji, Oladepo Suleiman, were also nominated among the new members and that their names would be sent to the state government for inclusion.
The meeting had in attendance the Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Owolabi Olakulehin; Osi Balogun, High Chief Lateef Gbadamosi Adebimpe; Ashipa Balogun, High Chief Kola Adegbola and Ekerin Balogun, High Chief Olubunmi Isioye.
From the civil line were; Ashipa Olubadan, High Chief Eddy Oyewole; Ekerin Olubadan, High Chief Abiodun Kola-Daisi and Ekarun Olubadan, High Chief Hamidu Ajibade.
