The Osun State Government has appreciated the Embassy of the United States of America in Nigeria for its partnership and support in the area of culture and tourism.

The appreciation came at the grand finale of the annual Osun Osogbo festival, which held on the grounds of the Osun Osogbo sacred grove.

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, while speaking at the event, noted the kind gesture of the US Embassy especially in the digital documentation and reclamation of the damaged Busanyin shrine of Osun Osogbo.

He thanked the American Embassy for the support and partnership his administration had received, especially as it keyed into the tourism masterplan of the state.

He said: “As an administration, we continue to seek ways of mainstreaming our unique potential as a cultural and tourist destination.

“This desire, you will recall, motivated the design of a culture and tourism masterplan which has guided our interventions in the sector.

“We would like to particularly express our profound appreciation to the American Embassy for the partnership we have enjoyed and for the sustained support we received, especially with the recent reclamation and documentation effort on the Osun Osogbo Groove”.

The governor noted that the Osun Osogbo festival had contributed significantly to the socioeconomic development of the state.

He said his administration would seek more creative ways of mainstreaming culture for social growth.

Governor Oyetola was represented at the event by Secretary to Osun state Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji.
