The Oyo State House of Assembly has made a passionate appeal to Governor Seyi Makinde to constitute the State Security Trust Fund Board.

The appeal was contained in the report of the House Committee on Security and Strategy on its oversight visit to the offices of the Executive Assistant on Security Matters, Oyo State Security Trust Fund and Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun).

The report, read by the Chairman of the Committee, Dawud Al-Ameen Olalere, commended the state government for its continued commitment to the security of lives and property of the citizens through adequate and regular provision of logistics and support to security operatives in the state.

It noted that the constitution of the Board for Security Trust Fund in Oyo State became necessary to help in coordinating funds generated for the sustenance and maintenance of security in the state.

The report also urged the state Ministry of Information and Orientation and the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), Ile Akede, to commence the sensitisation of the public on the use of toll free line “615” meant for reporting crimes and other emergencies to the government on time.

The committee report further recommended an increase in the provisions and support for the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun) especially in terms of weapons, maintenance of their vehicles and other logistics.
