Oyo State, Chamber of Commerce, Set to Host International Trade Fair

The Oyo State Government, in partnership with the Oyo State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OYCCIMA), has said all is ready to host the 2024 International Trade fair, tagged: “EXPOYO 2024”.

 

A statement by the Commissioner for Trade, Investment, Industry and Co-operatives, Ademola Ojo, disclosed that the trade fair, chaired by its Committee Chairman, Mr Adeniran Adewoyin will host numerous companies, including multinationals.

 

Ojo stated that the trade fair will expand the economy of the state, revealing that in 1983, Oyo State hosted its first international Trade fair which attracted some investors to the state.

 

He emphasised that the Ministry has taken the bull by the horns by interfacing with the leadership of the Oyo State Council of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OYCCIMA) in addressing the long neglect of the trade fair for which the state is widely known.

 

The Commissioner said the trade fair will provide a veritable platform for manufacturers, producers and key industry players to showcase their products for patronage within and outside the state.

 

He stated: “The fair will help in fostering unity, enhance the revenue accruable to government, help in reducing the rate of unemployment, assist in disseminating information on global best practices, and help in accelerating the growth of the state economy.”

 

The commissioner added that the state government, being a major player in the organisation of trade fairs, will also involve Ministries, Departments & Agencies along with the 33 local government areas in the state.
The event, themed: “Showcasing the Economic potentials of Oyo State through, Agriculture and the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)” will hold between Friday, 23rd of February and Wednesday, 6th of March, 2024, at the Permanent Trade Fair Complex ground, Sango- UI Road, Ibadan, the state capital.
