Oyo state Governor Swears-in 5 Judges

Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde on Tuesday, swore-in four judges of the Oyo State High Court of Justice and one judge of the Customary Court of Appeal, saying the process of their appointments was based on merit.

 

 

The governor, while speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed judges, held at the Executive Council Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, urged the newly sworn-in judges to contribute immensely to the Judiciary.

 

Makinde said: “While I acknowledge the fact that we are humans, we cannot question God. We were going to go through this process but, unfortunately, few of the nominees passed on. We don’t like to lose anyone not even our enemies.  I pray we won’t lose any of you. Really, the process is based on merit; you know that everyone here has one thing or the other to contribute to the Judiciary. So, this is a real koseleri (unprecedented) event.”

 

Governor Makinde affirmed that there was no interference in the appointment of the judges and gave the assurance that his administration would not interfere in how the judges go about discharging their duties, vowing that the state government would continue to prioritise the welfare of the members of the Judiciary.

 

The judges of the High Court of Justice, include Mrs Olusola Adebisi Adetujoye, Beatrice Folabimpe Segun-Olakojo, Prof. Elijah Taiwo Adewale and Dr Kareem Adeyimika Adedokun, while Mrs. Olubukola Omolayo Ajadi was sworn-in as a judge of the Customary Court of Appeal.

 

The event had in attendance the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Rauf Olaniyan; the Honourable Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin; the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Muntar Abimbola; President, Customary Court of Appeal of Oyo State, Justice Mashood Abass; Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun; Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi; Head of Service, Alhaja Ololade Agboola, Chairman, Advisory Council Committee, Hosea Agboola, DG (BPP), Ms.Tara Adefope, Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Oyelowo Oyewo and other members of the Oyo State Executive Council.

 

Others were pioneer president, Customary Court of Appeal of Oyo State, Justice S.A. Akinteye (Rtd), immediate past president,  Customary Court of Appeal, Oyo State, Justice A.A. Aderemi (Rtd),  and a host of others.
