Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reassured the commitment of his administration to uplifting the standard of education at all levels in the state.
The Governor stated this during the distribution of instructional materials to primary, junior and secondary schools which took place at Coronation Hall, Government House Kano.
He said One million three hundred thousand textbooks would be distributed to the schools which include English textbooks, mathematics, technology, and basic Science among others.
Other items were over one million exercise books, thousands of school uniforms, school bags and pairs of school sandals.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf said his administration would re-board all the girls’ secondary schools that were de-boarded by the previous administration.
The Governor maintained that his administration had paid examination fees for NECO and WAEC for secondary school students.
“This is part of fulfilling our campaign promises, and I assure you that my administration would not relent in investing in human capital development, geared towards building a prosperous society
” Our belief is that no society will grow without education, hence we will do everything possible to uplift the standard of education “
He directed the secretary to the state government and the commissioner for Education to embark on the screening of teachers under the Basic Education Service Delivery BESDA for the possibility of making them permanent and pensionable.
Earlier the commissioner of Education Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa said 45,000 girls have benefited with twenty thousand Naira each under the conditional cash transfer program initiated by the current Kano State Administration.
He urged teachers and students to make judicious utilisation of the instructional materials provided.
