Palliative: Nasarawa Speaker Sympathises with Government, NSUK and Families

Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, has sympathised with the families of students that lost their lives and the injured ones due to stampede at Nasarawa State University, Keffi during palliative distribution in the institution.

The Speaker also identified with the State Government and the management of the State University Keffi over the incident.

In a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen today In Lafia.

Speaker Jatau said that the palliative distribution initiated by Gov. Abdullahi Sule was a good efforts but the House was sad over the stampede that led to the death of some students while others injured.

We have received with shock the news of a stampede at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi today.

“On behalf of Principal Officers and Honourable members, I want to sympathize with the families of those that lost their lives and those that injured as a result of the stampede.

” The House regret the death of some students and may their souls rest in peace ,” he said

Remain calm

The Speaker urged the parents of the victims and other people of the state to remain calm over the incident.

The Speaker  commended the state government for initiate a move to find out the cause of the stampede which affected the good intention of the state government to bring succour to the students.

Jatau assured the management of the Nasarawa State University Keffi of government’s intention to continue to roll out packages that will bring relief to students of the institution will full backing from the State Assembly.

On Friday, March 22, 2024, the sad incident was reported to have occurred when suspected hoodlums and some misguided students forced their way into the school’s convocation ground to cart away the rice kept at the venue meant for distribution as palliatives to students.
