Parents Commend Senate Deputy President On Foreign Scholarship For 70 Students

Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin has been commended for sponsoring 70 students for postgraduate studies in India.

Parents of the sponsored students made the commendations at the Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano state North West Nigeria while biding farewell to their children who departed to India via Ethiopian Airlines.

In an interview with Voice of Nigeria, a the parent Abdullahi Musa who was full of excitement, thanked Senator Jibrin for the opportunity given to his child to advance his studies abroad.

He noted that the opportunity given, was unexpected, saying, “I am so happy that my child secured this opportunity out of many Kano indigenes. May Allah continue to guide and protect Senator Barau Jibrin.

For the children, I pray for their successful future.”

A mother Rakiya Sheriff said, “I’m so happy with Senator Barau Jibrin, my son applied for the scholarship online without knowing anybody or going to someone. So I’m excited and I pray to Allah to bless Senator Jibrin.”

Another parents Abdulqadir Sheriff who was delighted with the scholarship scheme thanked Senator Jibrin and urged the students to be committed and focus on their studies while in India.

While biding them farewell at the Airport, Senator Jibrin presented them some donations and urge them to make Kano state and Nigeria proud.

He said, “this initiative is part of my efforts to address existing educational gaps and fast-track our country’s development. Globally, human capital is the number one asset, and it is against this backdrop that we have taken this step.

Our youths are our greatest asset, and we recognise the vital role of human capital in developing every nation; ours is not an exception.”

He emphasised the importance of education in developing human capital, particularly in the northern region.

The beneficiaries, comprising 65 males and five females from Kano State’s three senatorial districts, were selected based on merit.

Some of the benefiting students interviewed promised to make a difference.

The scholarship programme is an education initiative of the Deputy Senate President under Barau I. Jibrin Foundation.
