PDP Chieftain Offers free Humanitarian Service to Sokoto State Children

A Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State, Alhaji Faruku Sarkin Fada has offered free circumcision as humanitarian service to 1000 children in two local government areas of the state.

Speaking shortly after the inauguration, the  PDP Chieftain said the move was part of his commitments to contribute his quoter towards reducing suffering among people of his area during this hardship time.

According to him, the one thousand children are from sokoto north and south local government areas of the state.

“The gesture was aimed at assisting the less privilege parents that could not afford to circumcised their wards despite reaching the age period.

“The Mass Circumcision will be carried out in all  communities within Sokoto north and Sokoto South local government areas devoid of tribal or political inclinations”

“We will do our best within our God given resources to give back to the society especially with the current economic hardship experienced by many households” he said.

Also speaking, the state PDP Chairman, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, commended the sponsor for the gesture especially at this difficult time.

He said, the decision by the PDP stalwart to use harmattan period for the  circumcision of  boys across 22 political wards in two local government would go a long way in reducing some burden to their parents.

Goronyo said circumcision practice in a traditional Hausa setting is conducted on boys, between the age of 5 and 7 years during the period of  harmattan.

The PDP chairman called on other philanthropists and other well to do individuals and groups to emulate the good gesture by the PDP chieftain Faruk Sarkin Fada.

Many parents who their children benefited expressed appreciation with  the kind gesture made by the philanthropist

“if I am to take my child to Hospital for circumcision, I will spend 8000 naira and now I am getting it free of charge,  especially at this trying moment when people were struggling to have a square meal where will I have the money to buy even drugs.

” Faruku Sarkin Fada is a philanthropist per excellence, he is championing the revival of Hausa speaking age long tradition and culture of mass circumcision, “May Allah rewards him abundantly, says a married woman that brought her child for circumcision.

Circumcision is the removal of all or part of the foreskin from the child private part, It has been a tradition and cultural of a typical Hausa community to circumcise male children below the age of 10 during the harmattan period.

The practice is religious and multi cultural in many parts of the country especially amongst Hausa speaking communities.
