The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dissociated itself from advertisements and publications inviting Nigerians to a purported Generation Next in a PDP Townhall meeting describing the invitation as fake.

This was contained in a press statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan.

“The attention of our great party has drawn to fliers, advertisements and publications by certain faceless individuals, posturing to have the approval and backing of our party to invite Nigerians to a purported Generation Next in PDP Townhall meeting.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the PDP states in an unequivocal term that it did not authorize nor is it in any way involved or connected with the event or these organizers.” Mr Ologbondiyan said.

The PDP called on the public, particularly its members and teeming supporters to completely disregard the said event as it has nothing to do with the party.

“The makers of the said advertisement even went ahead to list some leaders and members of our party. including Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Governor Aminu Bello Tambuwal of Sokoto State, former Senate President Bukola Saraki. the Deputy National Chairman, North of the PDR Senator Suleiman Nazif among others. as speakers in the supposed event. in a bid to bestow a semblance of legitimacy to the scheme.” The party added.
