PDP Governorship Candidate Unveils Transformation Agenda for Anambra State
By Chinwe Onuigbo, Awka
The candidate representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State, Jude Ezenwafor, has pledged to address the pressing economic challenges and leadership shortcomings plaguing the state.
In a press statement released by his campaign office, Ifeabata Media in Awka, Ezenwafor outlined a comprehensive transformation agenda prioritising several key sectors: security, energy, infrastructure, food security, wealth creation, transportation, education, healthcare, and workers’ remuneration.
Ezenwafor emphasised the critical importance of security in improving the investment climate for both internal and external stakeholders.
He plans to establish a robust security framework across all three senatorial districts to ensure the safety of residents and their communities.
Regarding the power sector, Ezenwafor stated, “We will declare a state of emergency in the power sector to guarantee residents enjoy 24-hour electricity at subsidized rates.”
He underscored the necessity of infrastructural reforms to facilitate Anambra’s transition to a modern economy, targeting full industrialisation by 2032.
He also outlined his vision for agriculture, asserting that food security reforms would leverage Anambra’s agrarian potential.
“Our approach will revolutionised the agricultural sector, aiming for a five- to ten-fold increase in yields and ensuring food availability throughout the farming season through mechanisation and modernisation,” Ezenwafor stated.
Recognising the current economic reliance on non-renewable oil, Ezenwafor plans to diversify the state’s economic base through the development of ICT, agriculture, and solid minerals across all 21 local government areas.
Transport inefficiencies were another focal point in his agenda. Ezenwafor aims to improve road access to remote communities, facilitating connectivity to urban centers, and intends to introduce CNG vehicles to lower transportation costs.
In the education sector, Ezenwafor proposes a two-pronged reform strategy. To ensure adherence to international education standards, he plans substantial investments in both financial and human resources. This initiative aims to nurture future innovators and industrial leaders by enhancing the quality of science and technology education.
Ezenwafor also highlighted the importance of healthcare, proposing the Mother and Child Care Initiative to improve primary healthcare services, thereby reducing infant mortality rates and extending life expectancy.
“Our transformation agenda will be tactful, purposeful, and results-driven to align with global development standards and foster industrialization,” he asserted, calling on the public to support him in steering Anambra towards a brighter future.
“A new Anambra is possible,” Ezenwafor concluded, urging citizens to back his vision for the state.
