The governor of Sokoto State and presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, has frowned at the over-concentration of power at the federal level. He stressed the need for the devolution of more powers to States and local government areas.

The governor stated this in Abuja during his consultative meetings with the PDP caucuses at the Senate and House of Representatives in different locations.

GOVERNOR TAMBUWAL STATES HIS OBSERVATION AND INTENTION

Alhaji Tambuwal said, “The center is overloaded. We need to go back to the local government and state where the people are and give them more responsibilities and resources. This is how we are going to do it.”

The presidential flag bearer of the PDP said he had the capacity, ability, intelligence, and experience to govern the country and proffer solutions to the various problems plaguing the nation.

” To the glory of God, Atiku Abubakar has emerged as our party’s flag-bearer in P/ Harcourt. The season is here again, and I have the strength and support of several well-meaning leaders and members of our party to try again.

“To see this time around, If I can make it to be the standard flag-bearer of our party come our convention on May 28, 29, this year, God willing,” he said.

“The issues of 2018 have not left us. They are still very valid because of bad governance. I believe that in the PDP, we have what it takes to provide solutions, as you have often done on the floor of the Senate and in the House of Representatives.”

He emphasised the caucuses’ contributions to nation-building. “I have noted several contributions which you have made individually and collectively as a caucus on the way forward for this country. On issues of corruption, insecurity, the economy, unemployment, and the country’s general state.

“The democratic process is for us to have a standard-bearer that can marshal all that it takes for us to have our hands on deck in solving the various issues.

“It is a job that all of us must contribute to, and we must source for and identify those individuals that can manage and indeed take charge of specific sub-sectors of policy and governance.

Unless we can do that to assemble a team, irrespective of wherever someone is coming from, either by his ethnicity, region, state, or his religion, we may not get it right.

“So I am sure I can convey to you the message that: I believe that we have the right people.

“What we require is that leadership can identify those people and charge them with the responsibility. They will be competent enough to handle things and understand that it’s not rocket science,” he said.
