As the people of Nasarawa State moved into 2024, the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP has called on the people of the state to remain peaceful, steadfast, and committed to the peace and unity of the state.
The party has also appealed to the residents to eschew bitterness and resist any form of provocations in the interest of Nasarawa State.
In a statement by the Party’s State Chairman, Francis Orogu explained that the appeal has become necessary given the pending and doubting challenges confronting the state.
“As we move into the new year 2024, as well as awaiting the Supreme Court governorship election judgment, we must put behind us any action capable of breaching the peace and unity of the state, forged a friendly religious, ethnic, and clandestine propaganda in our dear state.
“Residents of the state owed it a duty to refrain from encouraging members of disunity, religious sentiments and embrace prayers to ensure that the state remains peaceful irrespective of our religious belief ”
“We therefore call for a change in Nasarawa State where few people take delight in stealing the joy and unity given to us. We will continue to pray to God who will listen to our supplications and do his will in Nasarawa State.”
“Our God Almighty is always ahead of every principality. The will of God shall prevail and put to shame those insisting on taking the people’s freedom and joy in Nasarawa”, the statement said.
He expressed optimism that the mandate genuinely given for a positive change in Nasarawa would be delivered by the Supreme Court in the interest of justice, equity, and fair play.
The opposition PDP however expressed confidence in the nation’s judiciary, describing the institution as the last hope of the common man.
It urged residents to remain calm, avoid tension and provocation but be prayerful for a renewed hope that the judiciary would ensure those who meritoriously seek it despite moves by some people to truncate the popular narratives.
The Party thanked all those who stood for democracy and its principles, especially the media, security, civil society, and the women for Justice whose names shall be written in history and sands of time for standing for the truth and what they believe in.
The party promised to remain committed to fighting for freedom, peace, and development of the state despite the level of provocation tinted towards drawing the state backward and set chaos, and confusion against one another.
It however, assures the people of the State of their confidence to reclaim victory.
The Party called on the people to go about their daily affairs peacefully as the party believes that adequate security would be made by the security services in 2024.
