The vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has said that his party will have landslide victory in Anambra State, during 2023 election.
Okowa the running mate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was represented in Onitsha at the 20th Ofala festival of Obi Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe by the leader of the Presidential campaign council in Anambra State, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, chairman of United Nigeria Airline.
Okonkwo who spoke to journalists while representing Okowa said that PDP will take the state despite the dominance of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which also has a presidential candidate, and the Labour Party (LP) flag bearer, Mr Peter Obi who is also from the state.
Okonkwo a chieftain of PDP expressed the confidence that the party will win the 2023 election.
He urged Anambra people to join hands and vote PDP in 2023 in order to reconnect to national politics.
“Atiku is a pan Nigerian who has build bridges and proudly a Northerner. There is no presidential candidate anywhere in the world who will address his people and asked them to vote for another person or tribe. If that is the way to play politics, good luck to a presidential candidate who tells his people not to vote for him.
We are following Atiku because we know he has all it takes to reunite this country.
PDP is not just a party but an institution that has come to last since 1999. The party has survived the All Progressive Congress APC misruled of eight years and we are still moving stronger,” he reiterated.
Okonkwo said that the victory of Atiku is inevitable, and urged the Anambra people to join him because it is for their good and according to him, the only wire that can connect Anambra to the national is PDP and no other Party.
“PDP is fully prepared for the campaign. Anambra has always been the home of PDP, and you may wish to check it. In the past, we have won landslide in all the presidential elections, and almost all the time, we have won majority of the national assembly election, and I do not think this will be different.
“The campaign committee is coming up to Anambra, and we will campaign in every corner of Anambra State, starting from every voter, every polling booth, every ward and every local government.
“I have no doubt that at the end of the day, Anambra people will know that we need to be reconnected to Abuja, and the only wire that will give us that connection to the political grid is PDP.”
Still speaking on the dominance of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State, Okonkwo described APGA as a friend of PDP.
“APGA had controlled the state in past times when PDP had won 95 percent of the votes in the state, both in the presidential and national assembly election in Anambra State. I think it is going to be the same.
“Anambra people have always voted for PDP at all times, and I wonder why you feel this time will be different. We are confident that we will win Anambra at the end of the day.”
He extolled the traditional ruler of Onitsha kingdom, Obi Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe for holding a colourful Ofala cultural festival, while also imploring other monarchs and communities to showcase African culture.
