Peace Day: Governor’s Wife Tasks Stakeholders On Marching Words With Actions
By Chinwe Onuigbo, Awka
The wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo has asserted that the advocacy to establish peace as a prerequisite for development has to begin from the actions of all stakeholders involved in the campaign as the global community celebrates International Day of Peace.
Mrs Soludo who stated this in a statement released in Awka to mark the annual celebration, explained that achieving peace is everyone’s task, and should not be left only in the hands of a few people.
She maintained that if everyone begins to show a deliberate desire to entrench peace through the way they live and treat others, the world would be a lot better, while certain impediments to peace would have been eliminated.
The governor’s wife emphasised that sustaining peace is a deliberate process that involves taking key decisions including those that could be deemed unfavorable, insisting that each attempt to establish peace demands sacrifice and selflessness.
She noted that the foundational basis of peace is unconditional love, and urged parents and other social and religious stakeholders to preach the lessons of love which will ultimately have an impact on peace.
Mrs Soludo further stated that achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets is largely dependent on a peaceful community, stressing that a society devoid of peace will not develop.
The Anambra governor’s wife also explained that part of the objectives of her Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative is to instill a philosophy of love in the minds of school children and youths and make them understand that a society bounded by love is a progressive one.
Meanwhile, the governor’s wife urged Nigerians to peacefully co-exist with one another for sustainable development and crime-free society.
