Peace: Group trains Youths in Kaduna State

A group in Kaduna State, the Community Initiatives to Promote Peace {CIPP) under the Interfaith Mediation Centre has trained youths from various communities on promoting peace in the state.

According to Samson Auta, the programme officer of CIPP, the aim of the training is to engage youths in sustaining peace ahead of the 2023 general election adding that, the programme was divided into three senatorial zones of the state

He explained that as the election approaches, the issue of conflict is paramount, and hence the need to engage and enlighten the youths on the issue of election violence.

Auta continued that, the training would go a long way in reducing electoral violence adding that early warning early response would further engage youths from kachia and zaria local government area of the state

Abbas Ibrahim, Director Admin and finance Ministry of Human Services and Social Development said the mandate of the ministry is to encourage youths’ participation in governance, hence the need to engage them so as to be active and become ambassadors of peace and conflict resolution.

Barau Emmanuel, programme officer of community engagement and outreach at Kaduna Peace Commission said the programme was aimed at conflict prevention.

Apollo Thomas, one of the participants who said the programme was apt urged the youths to be an ambassador of peace
