Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris has applauded the Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, for restoring Peace and security to the State.

He gave the commendation during a courtesy call on the Governor State Governor in his office in Kaduna State, North West Nigeria by the Minister and the entourage from the Information Council Meeting.

The Information Minister, while appreciating Governor Sani for being a good host, further urged the Governor to uphold his governance initiatives and policies that have brought calm and tranquillity to the state.

“We have noted how the temperature of the political climate in the state has really come down. For the first time in a very long time, we are seeing how everyone within Kaduna State appears to belong to the same family. The kind of cacophony of voices about differences that they have been hearing for many years appears to be disappearing in this state. We want to urge you to keep it that way. I also want to tell you that those of us in the information system are paying very close attention to what is happening in Kaduna State.
“Because once Kaduna state sneezes, the entire northern region catches cold. Therefore, we feel extremely happy with the kind of management that we are seeing happening in this state. We do hope that this will continue for many, many years to come.”

Responding, the Governor of Kaduna State Uba Sami, while the Minister and his team for choosing Kaduna State as the choicest venue, noted that the state is synonymous with learning and information management. Adding that Government is about the people, therefore there is need to ensure the people are involved in our decision-making processes.

“Our information management system must be structured in a way that information will reach different audiences, thereby raising their consciousness and eliciting support for the government’s policies, programmes and projects. In Kaduna State, nurturing citizens’ engagement is a key pillar of our governance agenda. We consult our citizens regularly on security and developmental issues. Under the auspices of the Open Government Partnership (OGP), we strategically engage civil society organizations. We have been creatively and innovatively deploying technology to ensure transparency, accountability and citizens’ participation in governance.”

According to the Governor, the National Council on Information and National Orientation has a strategic role to play in economic revival efforts and national development.

“You have a responsibility to devise effective strategies to mobilize Nigerians to selflessly contribute to the Rescue Mission of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR. Another major task before the National Council on Information and National Orientation is how to frontally tackle the degeneration of moral values in Nigeria. Moral rejuvenation is key to reinventing our country and placing it on the path to sustainable growth and development”, he added

The courtesy call was part of activities at the 48th National Council on Information and National Orientation, themed: “Enhancing Public Information Management for Inclusive Governance: Renewed Hope in Focus.”
