Peaceful Eid prayer, celebrations held in Kwara State

Ilorin, the Kwara Stata capital, North Central Nigeria and other towns and communities in the state witnessed a peaceful Eid El Fitri celebrations on Friday.

The two rakat prayers to end the Ramadan fast were observed in various praying grounds led by their chief Imams.

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji  Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari urged Muslim ummahs to sustain their religious obligations of living in peace and harmony with fellow human beings.

He urged them to desist from actions that can bring about disunity among members of the society.

While congratulating the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq on this year’s Eid-al-Fitr celebration, the Emir prayed to Allah to continue to guide and protect him in the course of steering the ship of the state for the second term.

The monarch also disclosed that a powerful committee has been inaugurated tagged: “Eid Praying Ground Development and  Management Committee with the Zanna of Ilorin, Engr. Yusuf Lanre Sagaya as its chairman.

“The committee has started work in earnest and we are confident that they will perform wonderfully and prayed to God to guide the committee aright in this arduous task,” the Emir added.

Earlier in his sermon, the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh  Muhammad Bashir Imam-Soliu, admonished Muslims to remain committed to the teachings of Allah and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad at all times even after the month of Ramadan.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Voice Of Nigeria,  the state Commissioner of Police, Paul Odama commended the people of the state, particularly the Muslim faithful for conducting themselves in a peaceful and orderly manner before, during and after the Eid prayers.

The police boss urged them to maintain such orderliness and report anyone within their neighbourhood with questionable character or suspicious movement.
