Peacock pays $400million to produce new Exorcist trilogy
Livestreaming service Peacock will pay $400 million to produce a new Exorcist trilogy.
Morgan Creek Entertainment previously held the rights to the film since their first entry into the franchise in 1990.
They produced Exorcist: The Beginning, Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist, and the FOX TV series.
But this new production will see Morgan Creek Entertainment team-up with Blumhouse and David Gordon Green for these new films with a home on Universal’s Peacock streaming service.
Ellen Burstyn reprices her role from the original film as Chris MacNeil – the mother of a possessed young girl in the original William Friedkin-directed film.
Leslie Odom Jr. (One Night in Miami), who is coming off an Oscar nomination at the 2021 Academy Awards – will be a new addition.
The first installment will be released in October 2023.
