The Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State, South-west Nigeria, has released the sum of Three Hundred Million Naira (N300,000,000) to pay pension arrears to 1,501 retirees as part of his commitment to improve the welfare of retired civil servants and workers of the State,
This is aside from the statutory remittance Gov. Oyetola makes every month, being the sum of Five Hundred and Eight Million Naira (N508,000,000) approved for the payment of retired civil servants, and an additional sum of One Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (N150,000,000) approved for the payment of retirees under the contributory pensions scheme.
In a statement signed by the Head of Service, Dr. Festus Oyebade, on Monday, the Osun government reiterated its commitment to the welfare of serving and retired workers in the State.
The names of selected retirees have been posted on the notice board of the Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation, State Pension Bureau, Local Government Pension Bureau and the Office of the Head of Service.
According to the statement, payment to the selected retirees begins with effect from Monday, October 25.
