Permanent Secretary Advocates Stakeholders Partnership On Economic Reforms
By Temitope Mustapha, Abuja
The Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on economic reforms would only be achieved through collaboration with stakeholders in different sectors.
The newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Industries, Trade and Investment, Ambassador Nura Abba Rimi, stated this when he assumed office in Abuja.
Abba Rimi has also pledged to pursue the economic transformation agenda of President Tinubu, while expressing determination to achieve President Tinubu’s target of revamping the industrial and economic sectors of the country.
The new accounting officer, who took over from Mrs Evelyn Ngige, further expressed his readiness to work with the National Assembly for effective service delivery.
He said; “We aim to pursue vigorously the economic transformation agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on revamping the industrial and economic sectors of the country.
“The ministry is key to the realisation of the cardinal policy framework of the present administration, and we will leave no stone unturned to make an effective implementation of this.”
On the recent declaration by the House of Representatives Committee on Public Account for repayment of N75 billion COVID-19 fund, Rimi promised that the issue would be resolved.
He said that the ministry was making arrangements for a formal appearance before the Committee.
“I can assure the honourable house of our utmost respect and readiness to address the issue. We have reached out to the respected representatives, and I am sure something positive will come out of this engagement,” he said.
Ambassador Rimi was Nigeria’s former Ambassador to Egypt, Eritrea and Palestine before being recalled to become a Permanent Secretary by President Tinubu.
Doris Uzoka-Anite is the current Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, who was appointed by President Bola Tinubu in 2023.
The new Permanent Secretary applauded Uzoka-Anite for the work she has started in repositioning the Ministry and pledged to galvanise the staff in effective and efficient service delivery.
