The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, has appealed to the Nigerian Midstream Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA, to settle the 200 billion naira bridging and other claims for the association.

A communiqué read by the Chairman of the IPMAN Depot Chairmen Forum, Alhaji Yahaya Alhassan, in Abuja, said the Nigerian Midstream Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority promised to offset the bridging claims in 40 days.

“However, 40 days have today become months with no hope for any payment, it added.

According to him, 21 IPMAN depots have become completely grounded over the lingering debt, which belongs to the marketers and which was deducted from IPMAN members at the point of payment for products to settle the bridging allowances.

The IPMAN frowns at the “Nigerian Midstream Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority’s imposition of several abnormal levies on their members, especially the association demand the withdrawal of 5% commission accruable to the IPMAN at the sale of any petrol station outlet in Nigeria.”

The IPMAN said NMDPRA has also made this very difficult for their members, describing the 5% commission as anti-development and unconstitutional and demanding immediate suspension.

The Association believed that the NMDPRA had enough time to settle their bridging claims in the absence of any payment; the IPMAN, together with its sister organisation, the Petroleum Tankers Drivers and National Association of Road Transport Owners, would take collective action in due course.

“We will not hesitate to immediately take action in 7 days if our demands are not met beginning from Monday, 24th February 2025,” the communiqué demanded.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the prolonged disputes between depot chairmen of the association and the Nigerian Midstream Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA.
