Pharmacists Hold Annual Conference In Anambra State

The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria, ACPN, Anambra state chapter, has held its 32nd Annual conference in Awka, the state capital.

ACPN, a professional body dedicated to advancing community pharmacy practice in Nigeria convened this year’s conference to address the challenges faced by community pharmacists during crises and explore strategies to enhance preparedness for the future.

The state Chairman of ACPN, Henry Iloh, emphasized the importance of community pharmacists in providing accessible healthcare services, particularly during challenging times.

Iloh stated that the theme of this year’s conference rightly captures the evolving role of community pharmacists as essential healthcare providers and aims at equipping pharmacists with the necessary tools and knowledge to navigate crises effectively and ensure better preparedness for future challenges.

He appreciated the participants and urged them to always remain sincere and dedicated to their patients.

Speaking at the occasion, the planning committee Chairman of the conference, Chioma Chike-Nwankwo, stated that despite the constant evolvement of the world and the challenges that comes with time, the collective efforts and hard work of the community pharmacists have always helped in overcoming the challenges.

On his part, the National Chairman of the ACPN, Pharmacist Adewale Oladigbolu, congratulated the Anambra state branch for their achievements so far, as he noted that despite the crises that befalls anyone, what matters is the ability to find a way forward.

He called on the state chapter to synergize with the national body as that would lead to a huge successful delivery of health care services in the country.

While making his contribution, the former Director General, Standard Organization of Nigeria, SON, Dr. Ikem Odumodu emphasized that community pharmacists play crucial roles in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications within their communities and are also healthcare professionals who are licensed to dispense medications, provide medication counseling, and offer a range of pharmaceutical services to the public.

He advised that despite the challenges faced, they should continue to play their vital role in improving the Healthcare and wellness of their communities.

Senator Uche Ekwunife who was also at the event, encouraged the Pharmacists to jointly fight against fake drugs and save lives of citizens.

The event showcased a diverse range of engaging sessions, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities.

The conference had as theme: “From Crises to Preparedness: Future of Community Pharmacy Practice in Anambra State.”

The event brought together pharmacists, healthcare professionals, industry experts, and stakeholders from across the country.
