The Plateau State Government has strongly condemned the killing of innocent citizens in a fresh wave of attacks on five communities in the Bokkos Local Government Area.
This latest violence comes just six days after a similar attack in Ruwi community, where 10 people were shot dead and three others injured during a wake-keep ceremony.
Confirming the incident on Thursday, the Chairman of the Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC), Vanguard Fuddang, described the attacks as devastating.
“There were attacks yesterday affecting five villages. It began in Mongor, but security forces repelled the attackers. However, they moved on to Daffo, where they struck before being chased away. From there, they launched attacks on Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai villages.
“In just one week, we have lost over 20 community members due to these marauding terrorists. On April 2 alone, they killed more than 10 people,” he lamented.
Fuddang acknowledged the swift response of the Nigerian military and police, which helped minimize casualties. He also called on emergency response agencies, including NEMA, SEMA, and the Nigerian Red Cross, to provide urgent relief to those displaced and injured.
The recent violence has forced many residents of the affected communities and neighboring areas to flee their homes in search of safety.
Meanwhile, the Plateau State Government has condemned the attacks, urging citizens to remain calm and vigilant.
In a telephone interview with our correspondent, the Commissioner for Information, Joyce Ramnap, expressed deep sympathies to the affected families.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims of the recent invasions in Ruwi, Mangor, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai. We urge our people to stay calm and maintain peace despite the provocation,” she stated.
Ramnap commended security agencies for their swift response and called for justice.
“We appreciate the efforts of security operatives and urge them to ensure that the perpetrators of these heinous acts are brought to justice,” she added.
