Plateau Governor to Deliver Lecture at 2025 Zuma Film Festival

The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has announced that Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, will deliver a lecture at the 2025 edition of the Zuma International Film Festival (ZUFF), slated for December 3rd in Abuja.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, Mr. Brian Etuk, the Director of Public Affairs at the NFC, said the annual lecture is one of the festival’s key events, designed to drive discussions on the evolution and power of film as both a tool of soft diplomacy and an economic catalyst.

Etuk noted that previous editions of the lecture series have provided a platform for addressing industry challenges while exploring new opportunities within Nigeria’s growing creative sector.

“Mutfwang, through the topic of the lecture ”From Policy to Power. The Future of Africa’s Cinematic Influence will not only present a historical perspective on film policy and power, but will critically evaluate current realities about cinematic influence.

“The imperatives of shift in focus from policy to implementation as well as the intentional harnessing of opportunities the film sector offers, through impact-driven transformations and creative innovations,” he said.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Film Corporation, NFC, Dr. Ali Nuhu stated that the annual film lecture series, introduced in 2006, was established to address industry challenges and propose practical solutions.

He noted that these interventions have enhanced the performance and engagement of practitioners and stakeholders, leading to positive outcomes and contributing significantly to the growth of Nigeria’s film industry.

The lecture series will continue to provide valuable opportunities for the NFC and the nation to address critical national creative economy challenges,“ he said.
