Plateau State Governor Presents N471bn Budget for 2025 Fiscal Year

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has presented a total of Four Hundred and Seventy-One Billion naira as the proposed 2025 budget before the State House of Assembly.

The Budget titled Budget of Consolidation and Sustainability according to the Governor underscores the steadfast commitment to shaping a sustainable future for Plateau State.

Muftwang said Medium Term Expenditure Framework also highlights the government’s fiscal strategy to achieve its economic development goals which include:

1. Promoting economic diversification,
2. Reforming public institutions,
3. Developing human capital,
4. Reducing infrastructure deficits, and
5. Pursuing urban renewal and sustainable housing development.

The Governor disclosed that the proposed 2025 budget size is ₦471,134,093,541.00.

Recurrent Expenditure: ₦201,522,433,264.00 (43.46% of the total budget).

Capital Expenditure: ₦269,611,660,277.00 (56.54% of the total budget).

This represents an increase of ₦156,278,944,988.00 compared to the 2024 approved budget.

“The 2025 Appropriation Bill reflects our commitment to solidify past achievements and ensure the continued growth and development of Plateau State,”

“The implementation of the budget will be guided by the Plateau Strategic Development Framework (PSDF) 2023–2027, which is encapsulated in three pillar policies: Peace, Security, and Good Governance; Sustainable Economic Rebirth; and Physical Infrastructure Development. The budget will be people-oriented, positively impacting the lives of the citizens of our state.” he said.

He revealed that the budget provides a three-year fiscal plan and outlines the macroeconomic and fiscal framework for 2025–2027.

“I wish to note that about Seventy (70) critical projects submitted by the citizens during the 2025 Town Hall engagement across the Seventeen (17) Local government areas are captured in the 2025 proposed estimate of relevant MDAs for implementation.”

The Governor further called for swift approval will enable to initiate the implementation of these vital projects without delay and reassured that his administration remains steadfast in its commitment to transforming and repositioning Plateau State for Peace and Prosperity.

In his response, the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dawang, commended the governor for prioritising the people’s needs through his policies and programmes, while reaffirming that the proposed 2025 budget aligned with the aspirations of Plateau State citizens.

He gave the assurances of the House of Assembly’s commitment to the timely passage of the appropriation bill to facilitate the continuation of key projects.

The Speaker also expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the 2024 budget, highlighting achievements in the area of health, education, urban development, road infrastructure.
