Plateau State: President Tinubu Mourns Victims Of School Building Collapse

The Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described the tragic school building collapse in Jos, Plateau State as a huge loss and a devastating development for the nation.

The President also condoled with the bereaved families, families of all the victims, and the people and Government of Plateau State.

In a statement signed by the President’s Spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu said he received the news of the tragic collapse of a school building, which resulted in multiple deaths and many surviving victims with profound grief.

The Nigerian Leader commended the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), security agencies, and all citizens involved in the search, rescue, and resuscitation efforts.

President Tinubu assured the people of Plateau State of his fervent support at this difficult time.

A private high school in Jos, Plateau State collapsed on Friday morning, trapping over 130 students and teachers in the rubble, with reports of several fatalities.

The Plateau State Government said 22 persons have died and 132 persons injured after a school collapsed in the Busa Buji, Jos North Local Government Area of the state.

The State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Musa Ashoms said on Friday that as at 6:00 pm local time, 154 people have been rescued from the debris. Sadly, 22 individuals have been confirmed deceased.

The Injured students and staff are receiving medical treatment at various hospitals across Jos.
