Plateau State Records Improved Security In 2024- Governor Muftwang

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has stated that the security situation in the state has significantly improved compared to last year.

Speaking with journalists after a visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Lagos residence on Friday, Mutfwang described the progress as promising, but acknowledged that it is “not 100%.”

“The update on the Plateau is that things are getting better security-wise. Certainly we are better off this year than we were last year,” the governor stated.

He identified a combination of efforts, including enhanced technology, community mobilisation, and proactive measures by security forces, as key drivers of the improvement.

Recalling on the sucesses made, Governor Mutfwang said that Plateau State, which mourned during the holiday season in 2023, was able to celebrate Christmas this year with “relative peace.”

While admitting that isolated incidents still occur, the Mutfwang stressed the need for sustained vigilance.

“With the support of Mr. President, I can assure you that we are not going to take our foot off the pedal. We are going to make sure that we cross the Ts and dot the Is as far as security is concerned,” he said.

The Plateau State Governor also used the opportunity to call for more investment in Plateau State, expressing confidence in the state’s improving climate for business.

“We want to assure our people and give confidence to Nigerians, particularly those who want to come and invest on the Plateau. The environment is good, and I believe that 2025 will be a better year,” he said.

The governor also revealed that his visit to President Tinubu was also to brief him on the progress made in the state and as well an opportunity for him to discuss other state matters.

“The President has been very concerned about the security situation on the Plateau,” Mutfwang said, adding that Tinubu’s support has been instrumental in the state’s journey towards stability.
