Iga Świątek of Poland defeated Russia’s Liudmila Samsonova 6-2, 6-2 in the finals on Sunday to win the WTA tennis tournament in Beijing, China.

It is Świątek’s fifth title of the current season, but her first WTA 1000 title.

Świątek, who is ranked second in the world, dominated the match from start to finish. She broke Samsonova’s serve five times and never faced a break point herself.

This was the third match played by Świątek against Samsonova, and her third victory over the Russian player.

On Saturday, Świątek defeated American Cori “Coco” Gauff 6-2, 6-3 in the semifinals.

Świątek took revenge on the American for her last three-set defeat in August in the semi-final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati.

Świątek’s victory in Beijing is a major accomplishment for the Polish player. She is now the first Polish player to win a WTA 1000 title. She is also the youngest player to win a WTA 1000 title since Maria Sharapova in 2004.

Świątek’s performance in Beijing has shown that she is one of the best players in the world. She is now a strong contender to win the WTA Finals in November.
