Police Arrest 149 Suspects In Kano

The Kano State Police has announced the arrest of 106 individuals suspected of being affiliated with criminal activities at several concealed locations within the State.

The Kano Police Spokesperson, Abdullahi Kiyawa disclosed this while briefing journalists in Kano.

During his statement, he indicated that out of a total of 43 individuals, 25 were suspected of being involved in armed robbery, two were suspected kidnappers, three were suspected drug dealers, three were suspected of motor vehicle theft, two were suspected of motorcycle theft, and eight were suspected of general theft activities.

Kiyawa noted that One Pump-Action Rifle, two motor vehicles, cutlasses, pointed rods,  eight tricycles, 12 motorcycles, 58 knives, as well as substance abuse were recovered among other items.

He expressed the readiness of the Command to intensify patrols in the affected areas and increased collaborations with relevant stakeholders to top thuggery activities and other crimes in the state.

“Let me emphasize the zero-tolerance stance of the Police Command towards criminal activities, particularly, thuggery (Daba) which have not only posed a threat to the security and safety of the affected communities where lives and properties were lost and caused injuries to innocent citizens but also affecting the overall development of the State.

“The Command will continue to conduct public awareness campaigns and sensitization through its public relations unit to educate people about the dangers of crimes as well as the importance of reporting any suspicious or criminal activities promptly to the nearest authority.

“The Kano Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to combating thuggery (Daba) and other criminal activities and will spare no effort in ensuring the safety and security of all Kano residents.”
