Police arrests 10 Suspected Kidnappers in Nasarawa State

The Police Command in Nasarawa State has arrested 10 suspected kidnappers and 16 others for various criminal offences across the state within one month.

The police public relation officer, DSP, Ramhan Nansel, stated this while parading the suspects during a press briefing at the police headquarters in Lafia, the state capital.

He said the briefing aims to bring members of the public up to date with the recent achievements recorded by the command in its bid to ensure a safe and secure state.

“On 30/4/2023 at about 1600hrs, while acting based on credible information, police operatives attached to Awe Division arrested the trio of Jibrin Idris 20yrs of Doka village, Kaduna state, Manu Kauji 20yrs, and Tukur Sule 20yrs both males of Tunga village, Awe LGA where one hundred and fifty-five (155) rounds of 7.62×39mm live ammunition were recovered from the suspects as exhibits.

“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed that they were sent by one Idris of Katsina state to purchase the ammunition at Ibi, Taraba state before they were arrested at Tunga village, Awe LGA.

“A follow-up investigation by men of the command’s Anti kidnapping unit led to the arrest of Idris Abdullahi ‘M’ of Kankara, Katsina state (the father of one of the suspects earlier arrested) where one AK47 rifle, one magazine, and three hundred and twenty-three (323) rounds of 7.62×39mm and fourteen (14) rounds of 7.62×51mm live ammunition (total-492 rounds) were recovered from the suspects as exhibits”, DSP noted.

Nansel further said that the suspects have made useful statement and investigation is ongoing and all suspects will be charged to court for prosecution upon conclusion of investigation.
