Police authorities in Anambra State have carried out a large-scale sanitation exercise and a free medical outreach programme as part of activities marking this year’s National Police Day.
The initiative involved personnel from 56 police divisions and eight area commands across the state, emphasising a coordinated effort to promote public health and strengthen relationships between the police and local communities.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, the outreach provided both officers and residents with access to basic health screenings and medical consultations.
He said the programme reflects the broader commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to maintain security and contribute to the general well-being of citizens.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ikioye Orutugu, noted that the activities form part of a wider series of events leading up to National Police Day, scheduled for April 7, 2026.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to community-oriented policing, stressing the importance of sustained engagement initiatives aimed at building public trust and cooperation.
Residents were also encouraged to continue supporting law enforcement efforts to maintain peace and security across the state.
