Katsina State Police Command has disbursed ₦10,957,292.72 to 34 families of police officers who died in active service, under the Group Life Assurance and IGP’s Family Welfare Scheme.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, presented the cheques on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, at a ceremony held at the State Police Command Headquarters. He was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration, DCP Aminu Usman Gusau.
He commended the Inspector General for prioritising the welfare of officers and their families.
“This gesture is part of IGP Egbetokun’s compassion for the families of our fallen heroes and his commitment to improving police welfare,” he said.
He encouraged beneficiaries to see the funds as both a relief and a tribute to the sacrifices made by their loved ones, urging them to use the money wisely for the well-being of their families.
The Commissioner of Police also offered prayers for the souls of the departed officers.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Nuhu Bello Gohe expressed appreciation to the police leadership.
“We are deeply grateful to the Inspector General of Police for his compassion and prompt disbursement of these funds. We assure you the funds will be used judiciously,” he said.
