Police kill 7 bandits, arrests 18 thugs in Niger State

The Nigerian Police Command in Niger State, North Central Nigeria, have killed 7 suspected Bandits in Mariga Local Government area of the State, in efforts towards curtailing banditry and other criminality in the State.

 

A statement by the spokesperson of the Police Command in Niger State, DSP Wasiu Abiodun Say’s “7 of the suspected Bandits have been killed by the Police during a shootout, while others escaped into the forest with gunshot injuries”.

 

DSP Abiodun who further said 2 members of the vigilante group sustained bullet wounds during the face off, mentioned that the police swiftly acted on a credible intelligence report on the presence of armed bandits terrorizing farmers within Kumbashi district of Mariga Local Government area.

 

DSP Abiodun further said the police team has equally arrested 18 members of a notorious thuggery group engaged in constant civil unrest in the State metropolis.

“The Police arrested a notorious criminal, Umar Aminu in Limawa quaters of Minna, who specializes in handset snatching and 17 other miscreants.

 

“Naziru Rabiu (a.k.a Bush), Musa Suleiman 23 yrs, Nuhu Saidu 19yrs, Musa Suleiman 20yrs, Bashir Mohammed 17yrs, Awwal Abubakar 17yrs, Mohammed Gadafi 19yrs, Salim Umar 24yrs, Ibrahim Yunusa 17Yrs, Abdullahi Abubakar 19yrs, Musa Abubakar 20yrs, Hassan Mohammed 19yrs, Umar Suleiman 19yrs, Bala Bala 17yrs, Musa Saidu, Abdullahi Musa, Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed 17yrs.”

The suspects according to the police spokesperson will be arraigned in court for diligent prosecution, as effort and further investigation is ongoing with a view to apprehend other fleeing members of the miscreants towards ensuring a lasting peaceful environment in the metropolis.

 

The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Ogundele Ayodeji, has directed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers in the metropolis to actively embark on constant visibility patrols in and around identified areas.
