Police neutralises bandits, arrests suspected Kidnappers in Sokoto

The Sokoto State Police Command has neutralised two bandits and arrested one around Yabo local government.

The State Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Ka’oje  made this known at a press briefing at Police Headquarters, Sokoto.

According to Ka’oje “a team of operatives attached to State CID Sokoto received distress call that around Yabo-Sanyinna forest some armed bandits were preparing to execute operation. 

 “Operatives swiftly proceeded to the area, on reaching the Bush, the bandits wearing military Comouflage uniform opened fire and a gun duel ensued two of the bandits were neutralised while others escaped into the Bush with bullet wounds ,” the commissioner explained.

 He said that one AK 47 and three AK 49 rifles and rounds of live ammunition were recovered.

In a related development, the Police Commissioner said one Abdullahi Muhammad a driver from Dange-Shuni local government reported a case against one Bello Hadari of Kalgo local government in Kebbi State.

He explained that the suspect boarded his car at Kwannawa Motor Park about to travel to Kano State.

He said the suspect was identified by the complainant to be a member of a kidnap syndicate who kidnapped him on 07/09/2020 along Kankara Sheme road Katsina State and the suspect was arrested by the Police.

Similarly Ka’oje also said a team of vigilante men from Dange shuni LGA in Sokoto have arrested and handed over to Police two suspects in an attempt to kidnap, but were eventually caught by the locals who informed the Police.

He said also that a gang of 7 suspected Kidnappers with the intention to travel to Kebbi State from Sokoto to attack a house at Birnin Kebbi and demand for the sum of N25,000,000 cash from the owner of the house was arrested.

“On a tip off Kebbi Police intercepted the hoodlums at Birnin Kebbi and arrested six of the suspects and recovered two pistols and two cutlasses”, he said.

The Commissioner further said investigations are ongoing on all the suspects and will soon be charged accordingly.

He said the State Police Command would continue to remain committed and sustained efforts towards actualisation of a crime free state.

The Police Commissioner urged members of the public to continue to cooperate and supply meaningful information to security agencies to ensure sustainable peace and security of lives and propery of citizens.
