The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed a successful repelling of an attempted attack by armed bandits on Guda Lamido Village in Kashere, Akko Local Government Area, in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to the Command, the incident occurred on 13th January 2026 at about 4:00 a.m, local time, when a report was received that a group of bandits had attempted to invade the community.

A statement by the police said a joint patrol team comprising officers of the Nigeria Police Force, local vigilante groups and hunters was immediately mobilised to the area.

The statement added that the team engaged the assailants and forced them to retreat into the surrounding forest, noting that no lives were lost and no injuries were recorded during the encounter.

It said normal activities had since resumed in the village and the situation was now calm.

Consequently, the police said the Command had intensified patrols and surveillance operations in Guda Lamido and neighbouring communities to forestall any further threats.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, commended the officers and other security operatives for their bravery and professionalism, urging them to sustain the tempo.

He also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property across the state, while advising residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and useful information to security agencies.
