The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of a 48-year-old man, following a kidnapping in Tingile Village, Birin Fulani area of Nafada Local Government.
The police say the incident occurred at about 3:00am Local time on 11th February 2026, when unidentified assailants armed with sticks, cutlasses and knives invaded the cattle range of Alhaji Adamu Bappah.
According to the police, the attackers assaulted Mr. Bappah and his son, inflicting injuries on both before abducting the 48-year-old to an unknown location, while his son was immediately taken to hospital for treatment.
A coordinated rescue operation involving police operatives, local hunters and members of a vigilante group was launched later the same day.
The police said the victim was successfully rescued from the Dawo bush area of Kwani Local Government Area and was taken to hospital for medical examination.
They said he had since been reunited with his family and that efforts were ongoing to track down and apprehend the suspects responsible for the attack.
In a statement, the Command reassured residents of its continued commitment to tackling crime and ensuring the safety and security of communities across Gombe State.
